Hundreds of families enjoyed a free visit to see Santa at Prospect Centre this weekend (Saturday, December 3rd) as part of a series of events to keep the children entertained during the festive season.
Each Saturday in the run up to Christmas, Prospect Centre’s strEAT foodcourt will play host to a festive workshop, with a meet and greet with Santa and free photo opportunity, as well as festive arts and crafts, face painting and reindeer food making. The series of events kicked off on Saturday, December 3rd, with another on Saturday 10th December, as well as the upcoming event on Saturday 17th December.
Each event will start with a magical fairytale-themed Story Hour downstairs in the mall at 12noon, before families head up to the foodcourt for the rest of the festivities.
Next Saturday (17th December) will feature a Little Elves Disco, where the foodcourt will be transformed into an elves’ dance floor for families and young children.
Each event will include free face painting, although all events will raise money for the Centre’s nominated charity, Child Dynamix, through donations made.
Prospect Centre’s centre manager, Lee Appleton, said: “It is important that every family has the opportunity to visit Santa, it is what makes this time of year so special.
“Christmas is a time when people incur great costs and parents have additional pressures – our series of events is completely free to attend and will ensure a great festive experience for local children from across the city.
“Our Story Hour events have already proven popular in recent months, with children settling down on bean bags while some of their favourite fairytales are brought to life, so it’s a great opportunity for families to get in the festive spirit while they complete their Christmas shopping.”
