A new discount shopping option is set to arrive in the centre as Boyes prepares to open its second local store, taking over the former Wilko unit.
The Yorkshire-based retailer has confirmed that the new branch will officially open its doors on Thursday, 8 May at 9:00am, marking another step in its continued expansion across the UK.
The store will occupy the space left vacant following Wilko’s collapse, bringing fresh life back to a prominent high street unit. Shoppers can expect Boyes’ familiar mix of affordable goods, including clothing, homeware, DIY essentials, stationery, and seasonal items.
This opening represents the brand’s second store in the city, strengthening its presence in the area and offering residents an alternative budget-friendly shopping destination at a time when value for money remains a key concern for many households.
A spokesperson for The Prospect Centre ” we are pleased Boyes are investing in the city and reusing a well-known retail location, helping to boost footfall and contribute to the local economy”
Early visitors on opening day can expect a busy atmosphere, with doors opening promptly at 9am and a wide range of opening offers likely to attract bargain hunters keen to explore the new store.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early to be among the first to see what the new store has to offer.
The arrival of Boyes also signals a positive shift for the high street, with another empty retail unit returning to active use following a challenging period for bricks-and-mortar stores. Joining recent openings of Cafe Atrium, Cozy Kiln Pottery Studio, DNC Gemstones and Peacocks.
