Aspiring Hull actress wins dream makeover with renowned celebrity stylist thanks to shopping centre competition

1st May 2016

IMG_1188An aspiring actress had a day to remember after winning her dream makeover with stylist to the stars, Lewis – Duncan Weedon.

Shantell Bodecott, of Kimmeridge Close, Hull, entered the competition hosted by Prospect Centre with the hopes of winning the wardrobe overhaul worth more than £300 to impress judges at her acting auditions.

The 28-year-old dog walker said she couldn’t believe her luck when she got the phone call to say she had won.

“It was such a surprise when I answered the phone,” Shantelle explains. “I’ve never won anything like this before, I can’t thank everyone enough for such an incredible day.

“It feels nice to have a style change. I would never even think to put some of the outfits together that Lewis-Duncan styled for me and to have my make-up done was just the icing on the cake.

“I’ve always wanted to be in EastEnders – now I’ve got my audition outfits sorted, I just need to work on my accents.”

Shantelle met with Lewis Duncan Weedon in Pep & Co, where he worked his magic to create seven signature looks for just £112. Then it was on to Goldsmiths and Claire’s Accessories before ending their trip with a make-up masterclass in Boots.

As well as the exclusive styling experience, Shantelle also won a luxury Boots gift bag filled to the brim with more than £200 worth of premium beauty products and a £100 Bolo voucher.

Shantelle was that excited to spend her Bolo voucher at Flemingate, in Beverley, that she cycled all the way there from her home in North Hull.

“I was so overwhelmed, the gifts just kept on coming,” Shantelle added. “I don’t treat myself very often and working part time while pursuing my acting career means that I don’t have the money to be buying expensive make-up.

“I don’t think anyone know how much this make-over means to me. I will definitely remember the experience forever and you never know, I might be joining Lewis-Duncan on the red carpet before you know it.”

More than 100 people entered the competition launched by Prospect Centre as part of Hull Fashion Week.

Lee Appleton, centre manager, said: “We were thrilled to be able to offer one of our shoppers the chance to win a makeover with a renowned stylist.

“Shantelle was incredibly grateful and we pride ourselves on being committed to hosting events and competitions that make a real difference to our shoppers.

“Once again, the generosity of our retailers meant that we were able to offer an excellent prize to compliment the Hull Fashion Week city-wide action packed events calendar.

“With the centre’s expanding fashion retail mix, this competition presented a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate, showcase and establish Prospect Centre firmly on Hull’s fashion map.”

Shantelle’s shopping list:

£112 on key pieces for acting auditions (Pep & Co)

£69 on Rose Gold Tone Crystal Stud Earrings (Goldsmiths)

£72 on No7 make-up and Armani perfume (Boots)

£47 on hair accessories and jewellery (Claire’s Accessories)
