A shopping centre in Hull has recognised how the mobile phone world is transforming the way we communicate.

It is estimated that 50% of people in Hull have a smart phone and the Prospect Centre has created the city’s first shopping centre iPhone app to keep up with demand.

The centre sees thousands of visits to its website through mobile devices and saw the iPhone app as the natural development in its communications.

Packed with the latest information and offers, it is able to update shoppers in an effective way.

The free app also helps you to keep a track of where you parked the car, in addition it provides details of the upcoming events and the childsafe scheme.

Lee Appleton, centre manager says: “We are now in the stage where a generation finds it impossible to understand how anyone met or found the nearest cinema without a mobile phone. The mobile world is huge and we need to be a part of it to reach out to our shoppers.

“Our free app is simple to use and will be an at hand guide to the centre’s activities. We will be keeping our other methods of communications in place to cater for the shoppers without iPhones and will continue to look at innovative ways to get our information to those that need it”.

It’s estimated that by 2015 there will be 250,000 smart phones in use in Hull and as they become a necessity, especially with the advances of technology, the scope is huge for the Prospect Shopping Centre.
