FREE space for community groups

26th June 2012

We are on the hunt for groups in the city that can benefit from a free space as we are offering a free venue to community groups and charities in the old food court as a venue for their activities.

Up the escalators in the centre, there is an 800 square metre venue with lighting and toilet facilities. Lee Appleton, centre manager is offering the space for free as a way of giving back to the city.

Lee says: “Unfortunately the food court closed in 2009 and I was recently in the area and I thought we must do something with this space; it’s a great location in the heart of the city, it’s warm, dry and light. With the cut backs that are happening across the UK there will be groups that are struggling to find somewhere to meet. So I would like to open the area to any community groups or charities that are looking for a venue.

“The space can be used for band practices, mother and toddler groups, knit and natters, fitness sessions or even putting on a play – we are open to suggestions!” said Lee.

If you feel that your group would benefit from the offer please contact Melissa Campbell on 01482 324619.
